Wish Gone Wrong - Part 2 of 3

Note: I've removed some photo illustrations from this story because, in hindsight, I'm not sure whether they were made public with the consent of the people in them. Feel free to suggest appropriate replacement photos, as I seem to be bad at finding them.

Amber and I found her parents' house empty. Not surprising, since she said they went to a movie, and they probably wouldn't be back for an hour or so.

"We'll just wait here for them," Amber said, making sure Danielle could hear over the phone.

"Is it alright if I hang up?" Danielle said. "I'm more comfortable by now, and I'd rather just... have some alone time."

"Sure," Amber said. "I'll call you back when we know more."

"Just don't get too comfortable in my body," I said.

"Wouldn't dream of it," Danielle said. "Love you, sis." She ended the call.

I first met Amber about a year and a half ago, when I moved to Milwaukee for graduate school. She was beautiful, and smart, and her confidence was stunning. I had been admiring her from afar for a couple of weeks when she asked me out on a date, and of course I said yes. I'm pretty sociable, and I've been told I'm "cute" enough myself, but at first, I couldn't understand what a woman as wonderful as her wanted with a guy like me.
