Consequences - Part 2 of 9

This is a good look for Kirsten, I thought as I posed and snapped a few selfies. Of course, most of the looks I've tried have been good. But with a body like this underneath them all, who'd expect otherwise?

Just then, I heard noise downstairs. It sounded like a car entering the garage. My phone told me it wasn't even 8 PM yet, so unless Kirsten had left the party early... this was probably her parents, back from their dinner date.

Kirsten told me to talk to her parents as little as possible, I recalled, so I don't give away that I'm not really her. If I just stay in here, I wonder if they'll leave me alone.

"Kirsten?" called an adult male voice, muffled by the door of Kirsten's bedroom. "Where are you?"

Guess that answers my question, I thought. I opened the bedroom door and, reluctantly, called back. "I'm up here!"

"Come down and say hi to us, Kirsten," said the voice - presumably Kirsten's dad.

Consequences - Part 1 of 9

"Thanks for reaching out," I said to Kirsten. "What do you need help with?"

"So... you know the party at Robert Fraser's house tonight?" Kirsten began.

"Sure," I said. I hadn't heard of it until now, but an instinct told me not to sound uncool in front of one of the class' most popular girls.

"Well, I really want to go," Kirsten said, "but I think a lot of Robert's friends from the basketball team will be there, and you know how they are around girls. I just want to have a fun evening without getting hit on every two minutes."

"I see," I said. "Do you want me to go with you and help keep them off you, or something?" I hadn't caught wind of any rumors about the boys' basketball team being creeps, but maybe I just wasn't in the know.

"No, no," Kirsten said. "I wouldn't make you do that. Instead, can we swap bodies, just for the evening? I'll go to the party in your body, and you can hang out here until I'm back."

Do-It-For-Yourself Haircut

"Hey, baby?" my girlfriend Hannah asked me one Saturday afternoon, when we were hanging out in her apartment.

"Yeah?" I said.

"I've been thinking," she said, "and I've decided I want to change my hair."

"Oh?" I said. "What do you want to do with it?" I was a little worried, since I liked Hannah's chest-length brown waves the way they were. Considering she worked as a hairstylist, though, I figured she'd probably have the taste to pick out something flattering - or maybe just something weird, for the sake of her art.

"I definitely want to go shorter," Hannah said, "but I don't have all the details nailed down. If this were a client who told me 'use your own judgment', I could experiment as I was cutting, no sweat - but this is me, and I don't have nearly as much experience cutting my own hair as cutting other people's. On the other hand, though, I'd feel silly paying another stylist to be a pair of hands for me..."

"What if we swapped bodies for a few hours?" I said. "You sit me down, and cut your own hair using my body."

"That's a good idea!" Hannah said. "We can do it right in the kitchen. I'll go gather what we need."

Wish Gone Wrong - Part 3 of 3 (Finale / Choose your own ending!)

Note: I've removed some photo illustrations from this story because, in hindsight, I'm not sure whether they were made public with the consent of the people in them. Feel free to suggest appropriate replacement photos, as I seem to be bad at finding them.

[Two side-by-side images. Left: Amber. Right: Danielle's body with a ghostly image of Brandon's face behind it.]

Amber's dad took us into her room and closed the door behind us. "What unusual thing have you noticed about the statue?" he asked her.

Amber sighed. "My boyfriend made a wish near it, and now he and Dani have switched bodies."

"Hi," I said, extending my hand. "I'm Brandon."

Amber's dad shook it. "Pleasure to meet you, 'son'," he said, "but I thought you weren't coming here with my daughter."

"He didn't come here," Amber said. "I took the statue to Milwaukee with me."

Amber's dad's eyes widened briefly. "You must have thought it was just decoration, huh?" he said to her. "Damn it. I should have hidden it better. I thought if it looked like just another piece of attic junk, everyone would ignore it."
